Creating a Portfolio Alert

With portfolio alerts, you can identify the threshold values for Cash, US Stock, Non-US Stock, Bond, and Other (% or $) in any portfolio.  You can set up to 50 portfolio alerts:

  1. In the left navigation pane, click the Portfolio Management tab, and then click Accounts.

  2. Double-click the account for which you want to create a portfolio alert. The account opens to the Holdings Summary.

  3. In the left-hand column, click on the Alerts folder to open the Alerts tree.

  4. Click on Alert Rules.

  5. From the toolbar above the grid, click on Add and then Portfolio Alert.

  6. Use the magnifying glass next to the Account field to select an account.

  7. Click the E-mail notification drop-down to indicate if you want to receive e-mails when this alert is triggered. The default is No.

  8. Click the Recurring drop-down and select Yes or No. The default is No.

  9. Click the Delete Triggered Alert drop-down and select Never or After 3 months. The default is Never.

  10. The Rule Level and Rule Type columns are pre-populated with Portfolio.

  11. Double-click in the Field column on the first row. A drop-down box opens with three subsets: % Allocation, $ Allocation, and Morningstar Ratings. Here you will select the percent or dollar allocation security type for which you will set a threshold or select Morningstar Average Rating Change.

  12. Click the Operator arrow to select < or >. Note: When Morningstar Average Rating Change is selected, this option is pre-populated with >.

  13. In the Value column, enter the % or $ value of the threshold. (The Apply To column is not used for portfolio-level alerts.)

  14. Repeat on subsequent lines to enter more alerts for this portfolio.

  15. When you are done, click Save.
