Yes, you can access Morningstar Office from an iPad by “remoting” into your PC using a Remote Desktop Program (RDP). This allows full access to the program, from researching investments to accessing clients and generating reports.
Because running an RDP on your iPad uses a large amount of data, we recommend taking advantage of a WiFi connection whenever possible so as not use up too much of your plan’s monthly data allowance.
Here is some information on a couple of RDPs that we have tried and would recommend:
LogMeIn Ignition
This is the best program we have found for running Morningstar Office from your iPad (and the easiest to set up). It’s easy to “find” your computer and offers good functionality (scrolling, right-clicking, etc). The program can be purchased on iTunes for $29.99.
Pocket Wyse
Another program that some users have found helpful is Pocket Wyse. You can access a free version if you would like to try it before buying. Overall, the free version works fairly well, but features like scrolling and right clicking are not as smooth as they are in the paid version. It is also a bit more difficult to “find” your computer. The program can be purchased on iTunes for $14.99.
