What's the difference between daily, month-end, and quarter-end returns?

Morningstar Office provides daily, month-end, and quarter-end returns for mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, and closed-end funds, and daily and month-end returns for stocks.

Daily returns use prices as of the close of business the previous day. They are calculated every day. The Return Date column displays the "as of" date for the returns listed in that view.

Month-end returns use prices as of the last market close of the previous month, and quarter-end returns use prices as of the last market close of the previous quarter.
