In some instances for purposes of householding, such as divorce, children becoming their own clients at a certain age, etc. Morningstar Office allows you to remove a member from a client and create a separate client record for that member. To create a new client from a client member, do the following:
In the left navigation pane, click the Client Management tab, and then select Clients.
From the client grid area, right-click on a client and choose Edit Profile.
From the left-hand pane of the Client record under Client Profile, select Members.
Select the member you want to separate by checking the box next to their name.
From the Action menu, select Create New Client from Member. A new Client Profile opens to the General page where you can add or edit the client information.
Click Save to continue adding information about the new client.
Save the additional information and then click the x to close the record.
You are returned to the original client record's Members page. The member you converted to a client has been removed.
Note: The Member record being converted will no longer appear under, nor have any attachments to jointly owned accounts under the previous client. Also, any accounts solely attached to the Member will be moved to the newly created client.
