Moving a Member to an Existing Client

In some instances such as custody requirements between parents, re-marriage, etc., Morningstar Office allows you to move a member from one Client record to another. To move a member to another client, do the following:

  1. In the left navigation pane, click the Client Management tab, and then select Clients.

  2. From the client grid area, right-click on a client and choose Edit Profile.

  3. From the left-hand pane of the Client record under Client Profile, select Members.

  4. Select the member you want to separate by checking the box next to their name.

  5. From the Action menu, select Move Member to Existing Client. A new dialog box opens.

  6. Click the magnifying glass icon and select the target client.

  7. Click the Relationship drop-down to specify the relationship between the member you are moving and the target client.

  8. Click OK to complete the move.

Note: The Member will no longer be listed under, nor have any attachment to joint owner accounts under the previous client. Accounts solely attached to this member will move with the Member record to the new client.
