Benefits
This information highlights those funds that an individual can purchase through the brokerage house such as Charles Schwab or Fidelity. Individual investors may be especially interested in the NTF (no transaction fee) funds which can be traded without a charge. Likewise, financial planners and brokers who deal with specific brokerage houses should find this information helpful. The list of brokerages is not exhaustive. Firms are added at their own request.
Origin
This information is taken directly from the brokerage houses. We accept updates once a quarter from each firm. New firms can be added more frequently. It is the firm's responsibility to send Morningstar updates. Thus, in some instances, the listings are updated sporadically. Some brokerage houses update monthly, others update semiannually or erratically. We allow firms to identify themselves as NTF or non-NTF. It is the firm's responsibility to disclose any fees associated with the plans.
For the Pros
Some lesser known facts about mutual funds vis a vis brokerages include:
a) Mutual funds pay to be made available through brokerages.
b) A given brokerage will deal with diverse group of funds, not limiting themselves to just a single fund family.
